Doverwood students' fundraiser for Haiti

By JOAN DOYLE

When the students at Doverwood Public School heard about the devastating earthquake that happened in Haiti, they wanted to do something to help out.

The school’s Early Act Club, an affiliate of Sunrise Rotary Club of Simcoe, that has 25 members in grades 3-6, quickly came up with a plan called “Hats for Haiti.”

During this week, any student that makes a monetary donation of a loonie or toonie or more, gets to wear their hat to classes for the whole day. Then on Friday, the class raising the most money gets to have a pizza party sponsored by The Shed.

All others in the community who want to make a donation to “Hats for Haiti” can do so at the school’s main office.

The Early Act Club has a three-prong mandate. Students must do something for their school, their community and for the world.
